Khrabrovo Airport held an aviation accident response drill

From September 23 to 26, 2019, Khrabrovo Airport held an aviation accident response drill concerning the emergency landing of an aircraft at an airfield.

As part of the comprehensive drill, joint actions were carried out by the employees of Khrabrovo Airport services, divisions of the Federal Fire-Fighting Service of the Ministry for Emergency Situations for the Kaliningrad Region and the Local Center for Disaster Medicine.

According to the tactical plan, during the hard landing of the A-320 aircraft at Khrabrovo airport, the right landing gear leg failed.

As a result of touching the runway, the right engine was destroyed after the spill and ignition of jet fuel. By the time the aircraft stopped, it was in a pool of burning fuel. There were 157 passengers and 6 crew members onboard.

To carry out the evacuation of passengers, the crew needed the help of firefighters.

After receiving the alarm signal, all the services involved in the drill urgently arrived at the scene and started the rectification of the consequences of the emergency landing of the aircraft.

During fire extinguishing, the passengers and crew were evacuated and first aid was provided to the conditionally injured at the scene of the accident.

During the training, different actions were carried out successfully: extinguishing various types of fire, assisting the crew in evacuating passengers in the case of fire, the interaction of calculations of the Fire Protection Service of the Search, Emergency and Rescue Flight Support Service of Khrabrovo Airport JSC with fire and rescue calculations of the Federal Fire-Fighting Service of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Russia for the Kaliningrad region; first aid provision to victims, including urgent medical aid, close to the scene of the accident; interaction of the medical personnel of Khrabrovo Airport JSC with the arriving teams of the Emergency medical services and the coordinator of the Local Center for Disaster Medicine; psychological assistance to the uninjured; delivery and use of the special equipment for evacuation of the aircraft from the airfield.
