In 2018, the airlines carried out 10,368 sorties from Khrabrovo airport, which exceeded the figure for 2017 by 16.82%.

A significant event for Khrabrovo airport in 2018 was the completion of the reconstruction and commissioning of the up-to-date airport terminal. The area of the new passenger terminal is about 40 thousand square meters. The airport is designed for the passenger traffic of 3 million people per year. The reconstruction of the airfield and the runway was completed last year as well. The length of the runway has increased by 850 m and is now 3350 x 45 m. The runway is equipped for operating two approach courses and is certified as the 1st category of International Civil Aviation Association system. The renovated airfield allows receiving almost all types of aircraft, including wide-body long-range aircraft. In February 2018, a double-deck wide-body passenger Boeing B747-400 aircraft landed at Khrabrovo airport for the first time.

The work of the airport itself on the days of the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches in Russia was without doubt no less significant. During the days of the World Cup 2018 matches in Kaliningrad, from June 14 to 30, the airport serviced more than 157 thousand people, 800 air sorties were performed. The airport coped with peak loads; all the infrastructure and personnel were ready to serve aircraft and passengers.

In 2019, Khrabrovo airport will continue to work on attracting new carriers and expanding the geography of flights, as well as increasing the level of comfort for all the categories of passengers. The passenger traffic next year promises to reach 2.3 million people.
