Khrabrovo airport received a compliance certificate from Rosaviatsiya

On February 26, 2018, Khrabrovo Airport received a certificate confirming the compliance of the Kaliningrad (Khrabrovo) airfield with certification requirements and entitling it to operate with established restrictions. The certificate was issued by the Airport Activity Management of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) for a period of five years until February 26, 2023.

According to the certificate, the Kaliningrad (Khrabrovo) airfield belongs to class B and the size of the runway is 3350m x 45m. The runway is equipped for operating two approach courses (60˚/240˚) for the 1st category of landing and for non-precision instrument landing. The reconstructed runway allows accepting almost all types of aircraft, including wide-body and long-range aircraft. On February 27, 2018, Khrabrovo airport tested extended runway, where IL-96 landed.

Reconstruction of the runway with an 850 meters extension was carried out under the project «The second stage of reconstruction and development of Khrabrovo airport (Kaliningrad region, Kaliningrad)». The project is part of the Federal Target Program «Development of the Transport System of Russia in 2010-2020» and the Resolution No. 518 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated June 20, 2013 on the preparation and holding the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Russian Federation.

The main goal of the project is to prepare the airport for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, including increasing the airport’s capacity and ensuring flight safety, eliminating the negative impact of infrastructure restrictions on the quality of service and increasing the volume of passenger traffic by no less than 200 thousand people per year.
