Khrabrovo airport summed up the work during FIFA World Cup matches in Kaliningrad

Between June 14 and 30, passenger flow at Khrabrovo airport was 157414 people. That is more than 40% higher than in the same period last year. The airport serviced 133171 people on domestic flights, which is 36,8% higher than last year. For international destinations, the passenger flow was almost twice as big – 24243 people. During that period, more than 801 sorties were carried out, and that is more than 60% more than in the same period in 2017.

Charter flights carried 17264 passengers in total, 13 551 of them – on international airlines. 6195 passengers arrived/departed as organized groups. The biggest number of passengers was carried on charter flights from Brussels – more than 2000 people, and from Zagreb - 1423 people.

The main passenger flow during FIFA World Cup in Kaliningrad was on Moscow and Saint Petersburg destinations. In total, the passenger flow on Moscow destination amounted to 89 212, which is 31% more than in the same period last year. Flights to Saint-Petersburg serviced 32305 passengers, +41,9% to last year’s number.

During FIFA World Cup, daily passenger flow of Kaliningrad airport was more than 10 thousand people five times (June 23, 26, 27, 28 and 29). The biggest number of passengers was on June 29, the next day after the match between England and Belgium. Khrabrovo airport serviced almost 14000 people that day.

We can mention that Khrabrovo airport coped with peak loads, all infrastructure and personnel were ready to serve aircraft and passengers. At the airport, reversal movement scheme was applied and the flows of departing fans were divided. Up to 60 passport control desks were functioning (stationary and mobile). High level security was ensured at the airport.
